Process of making a group chat
- You most probably have the app installed and signed in but if not, installing it is the first step you shall be doing.
- When you open the app, you will see a chat icon, tap that, and then a speech icon with a pencil drawn on it at the very bottom-right will appear. Tap that icon and you will move to a friend list.
- There you will find a “new group” option, and from there you will be able to start the group creation process.
- Simply name the group and start adding friends to it. You can add a maximum of 100 friends to a Snapchat group.

Adding more members to the group
In case you want to add more members to the group party, all you have to do is open the group. Then look for the option that says “add member”. Tap that and select the friend or family member you forgot to add and you are good to go.
Removing members from the group
Actually, you can not remove anyone from the group. Once you have created the group and added someone, there is no way you can remove them. But well you can ask them to leave if someone is added by accident.
Or you can delete the current group and make another one without that person in it. Only the person you created the group can delete the group, others can only leave.
Invite link
There is also a group invite link that you can share with your pals via WhatsApp or Facebook messenger. That link will lead them directly to your group. If they do not have Snapchat, they would have to make one in order to access your group. You just need to open the settings in Snapchat and look for “invite via link”.
Muting notifications
If the overload of messages and notifications along with it is bothering you then you can very much mute those notifications for the Snapchat group. As a group usually consists of 10s of hundreds of people so receiving multiple notification alerts is pretty normal.
Just go to the group settings and tap the 3 dots at the top-right corner and you will see the “message notifications” option there. Press that and the group will go to mute for you. One thing you should know is that muting does not mean you have blocked them, you can still interact with the group.
Muting a specific person
There are always people who are a bit excessive and irritating at times so would just want to mute them. It is not very uncommon, we all have that one friend or a fan. To mute a specific person, go to the Snapchat chat section, and scroll through to choose the person. Then click on the three vertical dots, tap message notification and go for the silent option.
How do you leave a group chat?
You might want to leave some groups where there is just too much going on and you feel like it is not your cup of tea. Because half of them are strangers, so you would simply want to leave the group in order to have peace and be a part of a much smaller group with people that you know. You need to go to the group info and from there you will need to look for “leave group” option.
